The Winona County Board of Commissioners, on a unanimous vote, appointed Maureen Holte as the official interim county administrator until a replacement for Duane Hebert is found.
Holte had served as assistant county administrator prior to Hebert's firing but assumed the interim role unofficially when Hebert was placed on suspension with pay in early April during an investigation into his role in a solar energy proposal from a St. Charles company.
Holte was directed to continue with her present duties but also continue to work with a special executive committee on county decisions. That committee also includes County Finance Director Pat Moga and County Planning and Environmental Services Director Jason Gilman.
A motion to appoint Holte and Gilman co-county administrators from Commissioner Steve Jacob failed when it did not receive a second.
