The project to reconstruct Rushford's Highway 43-Main Street is moving ahead slowly.
The Tri-County Record reports bids for the 3-million dollar project were scheduled to be opened Thursday but actual construction is still a few weeks off.
City Clerk Kathy Zacher said the City Council will need to approve the successful bids and those bids will also have to be reviewed by the Minnesota Department of Transportation since Main Street is also part of Highway 43.
MnDOT will pay half the price tag, about 1.55 million dollars. The City of Rushford will use a combination of low interest Public Facilities Authority loans, a possible bond issue, and property assessments for its half.
Zacher said right now the city hopes the project can get started sometime and June with completion earmarked for this coming fall.
