The fourth and final candidate for the position of vice president for university advancement and executive director of the Winona State University Foundation was interviewed Thursday.
A public reception was held for Bob Giere. Giere, since 2004, has been development officer and director of alumni philanthropy at Mayo Clinic until recently retiring.
Giere says his three decades plus at Mayo included time spent in higher education.
Giere says he was familiar with Winona and WSU but he has enjoyed getting as closer look at a first class institution.
The candidate who is chosen will replace Gary Evans who has filled the position on an interim basis since Jim Schmidt left to become Chancellor of Wisconsin-Eau Claire last July. The top choice is expected to be offered the position sometime next month.
