Winona County Attorney Karin Sonneman, announced she will run for re-election seeking a second four year term of office.
Since being elected in 2010, Sonneman says she has accomplished much of what she set out to do, as well as helped the county address and navigate through challenging issues that emerged in the local community, including designer synthetic drugs, silica sand mining, and everything in between.
When Sonneman began her first term of office in 2011, she set out to work in collaboration with community partners and other departments within the Winona County government, and state and federal partners to build on existing programs and establish some new crime initiatives that focus on early intervention and prevention programs for juveniles and adults, as well as those that address underlying problems of substance abuse and mental health needs for those involved in the justice system.
