Local firms interested in being part of the Highway 43 Winona Bridge project had a chance to learn more about the bidding process and just what the general contractor is looking for as the project nears start-up.
Ames Construction Vice President for Structures, Jerry Volz, said the project will need a lot of services and materials like concrete and sand giving local firms a chance get the work.
Volz says results from the first round of bidding are expected next week and the next phase will favor local contractors, although its being advertised in both Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Volz says the project is on target for a start by July but he hopes it can be even sooner.
Volz said five different contracts will eventually be sought for the project ton construct the new bridge and rehab the existing bridge.
A special meeting was held Tuesday at the Winona County History Center to introduce the Ames Construction team to local firms.
