The Winona County Board of Commissioners has decided to have a draft job classification description be prepared for the next county administrator.
Board members continued their evaluation of classification descriptions from now eight Minnesota counties and advised interim County Administrator Maureen Holte to draw up a draft document to be reviewed by board members.
But during their discussion board member Wayne Valentine responded to a media report critizing him for wanting the board to have more oversight of county operations.
Valentine said he is not looking to become involved in day-to-day operations of the county.
Commissioner Jim Pomeroy said he favors a job classification that stresses that one person be held responsible by the board.
Holte will bring a draft classification description back to a future meeting based on suggestions from board members which will be refined before the county advertises for a replacement for Duane Hebert.
