The City of Winona is getting some support from Rochester when it comes to Winona's 30-percent housing rule.
The Post-Bulletin reports the Rochester City Council on Monday decided to file a "friend of the court" brief in support of the rule that allows no more than 30-percent of any one residential block contain rental properties.
The City Council cited local control as a primary reason.
The brief will be filed with the Minnesota Supreme Court which will hear an appeal of the 30-percent rule filed by a group of Winona homeowners opposed to the rule.
The group lost its earlier appeal to the Minnesota State Court of Appeals.
