Winona State University is preparing for the arrival of its brand new floating classroom, the Cal Fremling, on Friday.
The boat passed its test at the SkipperLiner Marine in La Crosse last week where it was constructed.
The 60-foot long unconventional classroom was inspired by Dr. Calvin Fremling, a Winona State professor, scientist, author, and river enthusiast. The boat is named in his honor, reflecting his curiosity of the Mississippi River with its interactive classroom.
The Cal Fremling will be christened on Friday at Levee Park in Winona during a public celebration from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. It is scheduled to arrive at the levee at 3:00 p.m.....
