Former State Representative Marty Seifert says he is the best Republican candidate to defeat Governor Mark Dayton in November.
Seifert is one of four Republicans who will square off in the August 12th primary election following the state GOP convention in Rochester.
Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff Johnson won the party's endorsement but Seifert told Winona Radio News he is the hardest worker.
Seifert calls himself a maverick and the only one of the four candidates refusing to take money from lobbyists. He says the four candidates give Republicans more choices with a party endorsement not necessarily needed to be elected.
The other two candidates to face off with Seifert and Johnson in August are: businessman Scott Hounor former speaker of the House Kurt Zellers.
