The Winona Area Public School Board Thursday discussed the district's 2013-2014 initiatives and possible budget reductions.
Superintendent Scott Hannon says that one cost-cutting measure is going to be eliminating the district's Grant Writer position, currently held by Valerie Williams.
Director of Curriculum, Jenny Bushman, told the board that future grant applications can be written by administration in the area of their expertise.
The board also voted unanimously to ratify the final pair of district union contracts. The contract settlements are with the unions representing the district's administrators and the districts educational office professional associates.
The Administrators will get a 2 year contract with a 2-percent salary raise both years and the Office Professionals contract is for 3 years, with 2-percent increases the first 2 years and 2.5-percent for the final year. The total cost, including salary and benefits, is about $151,000, which is within the parameters set by the school board.
