Republican First District congressional candidate Jim Hagedorn harshly criticized the Obama administration's release of five terrorists from the Guantanamo Bay prison in exchange for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.
In a statement, Hagedorn said he was deeply troubled that President Obama circumvented a U.S. statute requiring the White House to provide Congress with formal
notification prior to release or transfer of Guantanamo Bay prisoners.
Hagedorn said had President Obama adhered to the law and properly consulted with Congress it is possible this debacle could have been avoided,
Hagedorn called upon 1st District DFL Congressman Tim Walz to "quit circling the Democrat wagons and begin demonstrating bipartisan leadership."
