Horse Fall

Authorities said a Cochrane man was injured when he fell from a horse Sunday while riding on a wooded trail with a group of other riders.

Winona County Chief Deputy Ron Ganrude said Gordie Stanton was riding up an incline about two to three miles off County Road 31 when the horse reared up and Stanton fell.

Ganrude said Stanton sustained head and back injuries.

Deputies had to use the department's rescue all-terrain-vehicle sled to transport Stanton to a waiting Altura ambulance who brought him to Winona Health to be treated. Ganrude said Stanton had lost consciousness for a time.

The incident was reported at 11:44 a.m. Sunday.
