Medtronic's nearly 43-billion dollar purchase of an Irish company may have an impact of a Wabasha firm owned by the Irish firm.
The Wabasha County Herald reports Covidien has had a presence in Wabasha since 1993 when it purchased a Wabasha company known as Tyco. Tyco had earlier purchased Uni-Patch which was founded by a Wabasha resident in 1978.
The paper says Uni-Patch has a line of products that includes: hot and cold gel packs, latex free elastic wraps, and a universal fast-application hot and cold therapy wrap.
The newspaper say there has been no word from Medtronics on the possible impact on the Wabasha operation which employs 100 people.
