Childcare Unions

A Republican Minnesota lawmaker says a Supreme Court ruling sends a clear message to Democratic lawmakers and Governor Mark Dayton to cease attempts to force independent childcare providers into a government union.

Representative Marty Franson of Alexandria says she supports the court's decision.

In 2013 the state legislature passed a law allowing childcare unions to be established but that law was placed on hold by the Minnesota appeals court pending the outcome of the federal case.

It's generally believed now the appeals court will throw out the Minnesota law.
