A Winona State University student has been endorsed by fellow Republicans to run for the District 28-A seat in the Minnesota House of Representatives.
At a district convention held in Lewiston Wednesday, Lynae Hahn was endorsed to run for the seat held by longtime incumbent Democrat Gene Pelowski.
Pelowski is seeking a 15th two-year term having been first elected in 1986.
The two candidates will face off in the November general election.
Hahn worked with the WSU College Republicans Chapter over the past two years and served as its chair during the past school year.
Hahn said, in a press release from Winona County Republican Party Chairman Rhett Zenke, she felt compelled to run.
Hahn vowed to be a representative of all generations if elected. She said currently Minnesota's unemployment rate is at 4.6 percent. But for young adults under 25, that rate is 11-percent and she feels the state can do better.
Zenke said Republicans at the convention gave Hahn their unanimous support.
District 28-A covers the majority of Winona County, but doesnot include Goodview or parts of western Winona County which are part of District 28-B represented by Republican Steve Drazkowski who is also seeking re-election.
