Franken-Winona Hub

The City of Winona is a finalist to become a manufacturing hub in composite engineering.

Senator Al Franken told a Winona Radio audience Wednesday that President Obama wants to set up a series of manufacturing hubs across the nation to address growing and new technologies.
Franken said the so-called local hub would consist of Winona State University and Southeast Tech partnering with local businesses to help fill the skills gap when it comes to jobs.
Franken the local partnership in custom, training is helping to fill the skills gap but the creation of a manufacturing hub, if Winona gets it, will expand that effort.

The Senate recently passed a workforce bill that updates a similar 1998 bill and the House is expected to pass it soon.
