Half way through a special July food drive and Winona Volunteer Services says only $1,500 has been collected.
Executive Director Sandra Burke told a Winona Radio audience the goal is to raise about $10,000.
Burke said a Twin Cities non-profit, "Open Your Hearts to the Hungary and Homeless," has pledged an overall total of $150,000 to foodshelves across the state with the local share based on how much cash Volunteer Services collects in July.
Burke says the July drive will help provide for a need to help local residents out during a normally slow time of the year.
Only cash donations are being sought and they can be dropped off at Volunteer Services at 412 East Second Street during regular business hours, or mailed to that Winona address.
