C-D Corporation of Winona goes before the Winona Board of Adjustment Wednesday to seek permission to load more barges with frack sand.
According to the board's agenda, CD Corporation wants to load an additional 60 barges with the silica sand per year in order to accommodate for river conditions which slowed down the loading work.
The firm, which operates out of the Winona commercial harbor, is also seeking permission to load dry sand on to barges by removing the 2.5 percent moisture requirement from its conditional use permit. Right now the frack sand must contain the 2.5 percent moisture to limit dust particles in the air.
The Board of Adjustment will meet at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at Winona City Hall.
Also on Wednesday, a stakeholders meeting will be held at City Hall at 5:30 p.m. where a consultant from Texas will discuss the future of the vacant properties in downtown Winona that resulted from last September's fire.
