Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF) will be accepting applications for free paint for a community mural project.
This special "Paint the Town" grant is administered by SMIF in collaboration with Valspar Corporation, which is generously donating the award of 50 to 100 gallons of paint products, valued around $25 per gallon. This grant is designed to engage volunteers and build collaborative efforts that beautify communities through "Painting the Town" with a new community mural.
Through this one-time grant program, IRS-designated nonprofit organizations and units/agencies of local, state, and federal government in southern Minnesota can apply to receive paint products. This is a competitive grant, as only one community will be awarded paint through this program.
All applications will be due August 15th and the winner will be awarded and officially announced at SMIF's Annual Luncheon October 2nd. For applications and guidelines, visit www.smifoundation.org and click on Applications.
Since 1997, SMIF and Valspar Corporation have awarded nearly 9,000 gallons of paint to more than 200 projects in southern Minnesota through the Picture-It-Painted program.
