Salt Deliveries

The Minnesota Department of  Transportation says winter may be some five months off but it's not too early for road salt deliveries.

Semi trucks have been steadily delivering over 14,000 tons of road salt costing nearly one million dollars to the 22 stations across southeastern Minnesota.

Each truckload is about 25-tons and the salt is hauled from Mississippi River barges, some of which arrive at the Winona commercial harbor.

The Minn-DOT lab in Rochester has already tested over 1,300 truckload samples for moisture, size and impurities.....
