Following the start of a public hearing Wednesday, the Winona Board of Adjustment voted to table a request by CD Corporation of Winona.
Dan Nisbit, with CD Corp, says he changed the initial request to add another 60 barges of silica sand per year to just allowing flexibility from month to month in order to accommodate for river conditions, but it would not increase the total yearly barge traffic limit of 432.
Board member Dave Kouba made the motion to table the public hearing and any decision until staff returns with answers to questions like does CD Corporation need to fill out an Environmental Assessment Worksheet or provide on-site air monitoring.
Board member Marsha Neff estimated she had received 40 calls, all against granting CD Corp any request to alter their current Conditional Use Permit.
CD Corp, which operates out of the Winona commercial harbor, also dropped it's request to load dry sand on to barges by removing the 2.5 percent moisture requirement from its conditional use permit.
