The Winona City Council on Monday will be asked to approve a recommendation from the city Planning Commission to establish a pedestrian safety program.
The Winona Area Chamber of Commerce presented its proposal to the Planning Commission last Monday.
The plan calls for a pedestrian awareness campaign to be established for both walkers and vehicle drivers. It would mainly involve the area around Winona State University but it would also include other areas of the city,
The council will also be asked to approve some amendments to easements involving the property formerly owned by the Cornerstone Community Church along Highway 61.
The property was purchased by the owners of Dahl Chevrolet which will re-locate there to make way for the new interstate bridge. Monday's meeting is at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall.
