The Highway 43 interstate bridge in Winona was closed for a time Friday when authorities pulled the dead body of a female from the Mississippi River below.
Deputy Winona Police Chief Tom Williams said a caller notified 9-1-1 just before 8:00 a.m. that a female was seen standing on the opposite side of a security fence on the bridge.
Williams said the female apparently jumped into the water.
Williams said no identification was found on the body, no property was left on the bridge and no vehicle was found in the area.
It's the second time in eight days someone has fallen from the bridge into the river. A 35-year-old Winona man survived a fall on July 17th.
