C-Tech Delayed

A 6.5 million dollar education facility to be located on the Rochester Community and Technical College campus will have its opening delayed for a year.
The Rochester Post Bulletin reports officials from the Rochester Public Schools, RCTC, and Winona State University announced Thursday the opening of C-Tech will be delayed until the fall of 2016. It will be located near the Heintz Center and had been scheduled for an opening in the fall of 2015.

The officials said a phased in approach will be used with programs in   engineering, residential construction, and horticulture, along with a Winona State University STEM Village, will open in the fall of 2015.  The manufacturing, health services and other programs will be offered the following year.

The delay is because it was discovered the new building will have to be built separate from the Heinz Center building according to code with a walkway in between.

The school will serve mostly Rochester high school students and some from the surrounding area......
