Winona's Highway 43 interstate bridge passed its most recent inspection in early June.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation says only some minor problems involving corrosion and rust were discovered but those were deemed nothing to be too concerned about.
MnDOT expects to perform some repairs to the areas that have been affected.
Meanwhile, a groundbreaking was held July 18th for the new bridge that will undergo construction soon. The old bridge will be rehabbed after that project is completed.
Work on the new bridge has yet to get started.
