Sheriff's Race

Two of the six candidates running for Winona County Sheriff say they would like to see some changes in the department if elected.

Current Chief Deputy Ron Ganrude, who has over 33 years in law enforcement including over 15 years as the number two man in the department, says he's like to see a night supervisor position created.

Investigator Kraig Glover has been in law enforcement for 26 years in different capacities, including narcotics and criminal investigations. Glover says he would also push holding monthly forums with the public and bring on some reserve officers to help out.

Both Glover and Ganrude are from St. Charles.

Joining them in the August primary will be Bill Spitzer, Rob Averbeck, Rod Hanson, and former police sergeant Gary Hoeppner.

The top two will advance to the  November general election.
