Winona's new Superintendent of Schools says he has been pleased with his transition into his new duties this summer.
Dr. Stephen West has spent the first six weeks getting to know the area and says he feels the school district's strongest point is communication.

West also says that what he finds most challenging as he begins his tenure is tackling the needed facilities improvements with several aging school buildings.

West says the current enrollment in the district is 3,100 students, currently up about 36 from the last school year.
He says he is looking forward to the start of classes in September.....
