The Wabasha City Council has approved the concept of constructing a new community center but wants more information about the plan before casting a formal vote.
The Wabasha County Herald reports the plan, presented by a group community leaders, calls for the Wabasha Chamber of Commerce to raise $500,000 to construct the new center.
The city would have no ongoing operating obligations.
The Transfer Building, near the city's riverfront, would be taken down and moved to another location to be used as a city garage.
Council members said they wanted more information on the project before taking a final vote.
