Flag Burning Meeting

About 15 members of the public, media and city officials attended Thursday's special meeting at the American Legion Club to address the growing problem of flag burnings on the city's west side.
Representatives of the Winona and Goodview Police Departments were there to update the investigation and they asked for the public's help to be on the lookout for suspicious activity at night and early morning hours.

Goodview Police Chief, Kent Russell showed several pictures that identifies a male person of interest, returning to the flag that burned earlier that morning.

Winona Police Chief Paul Bostrack says it's concerning and dangerous that all the flags burned have been next to resident's homes.

There have now been 17 flag burnings reported, all on 5th and 6th streets from Huff to Goodview. Authorities say they are occuring after midnight and before daylight.

You can contact Winona Area Crime Stoppers at 457-6530 where you can remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward. The phone number is available 24 hours a day.
