The Minnesota State Canvassing Board has certified the final results of the August 12th primary election in the state...the last step in confirming the federal and state candidates who will appear on the November 4th general election ballot.
Secretary of State Mark Ritchey reports the state had a 10.3 percent voter turnout compared to a 9.6 percent turnout in the 2012 primary.
Winona County saw about a 20-percent voter turnout on August 12th.
Nearly 402,000 voters turned out at the poles across the state on August 12th compared to 359,000 in 2012.
37,710 absentee ballots were cast this time around compared to 19,524 in 2012. This is the first election when voters did not have to have any excuse to file an absentee ballot.
