The Winona Developmental Achievement Center says it is getting closer to its goal for two new additions.
Spokesman Ryan Buhler says they have reached $213,000. That's a correction from an earlier news release, which the DAC had reported, that it had raised a larger amount.
The goal in the "50 Years of Caring, 50 Days of Sharing" campaign is 320-thousand dollars.
On August 12th, the Steve and Barbara Slaggie Family Foundation offered a $50,000 matching challlenge grant, stating that it would match, up to $50,000, what the DCA raised after August 11th.
Buhler says the DAC has received an additional $30,000 since receiving that challenge from the Slaggie Foundation. Therefore, the DAC needs to raise 27-thousand dollars more to reach its $320,000 goal......
Construction began July 29th, on the first of two new additions on its building along Highway 61. The 1,800 square foot expansion on the west side of the building is scheduled for completion next spring.
A second 1,800 square foot addition will be added when the first one is completed.
