Rochester police say they made 29 arrests for sex trafficking crimes as part of "Operation Aware."
Authorities said the operation has been underway since late May. Many of the arrests came from undercover officers making or responding to ads placed on the internet site "backpage.com."
KTTC TV reports five separate operations resulted in the 29 arrests. The arrests included 11 suspects for offering to hire a person under the age of 18 for prostitution, eight suspects for offering an adult for prostitution, four suspects for promoting or profiting from prostitution, and six suspects for engaging in prostitution.
