The Winona County Sheriff's Department says a 44-year-old La Crescent man was jailed Thursday in connection with a internet sex sting operation conducted by Rochester Police.
Chief Deputy Ron Ganrude said the local sheriff's department executed a search warrant on probable cause that Brian Michael Selke repeatedly tried to arrange a meeting with what he thought was a 15-year-old female.
Ganrude said the local sheriff's department set up an advertisement on the internet after getting word from Rochester Police who were conducting an operation their own.
Ganrude said Selke is alleged to have tried repeatedly on August 21st, to arrange for the girl, who did not exist, to come to him.
Rochester police had announced earlier that some 29 suspects have been arrested since May in connection with their own operation which also involved ads on the internet.
Selke was cited with soliciting a child to engage in sexual conduct.
