The Division 2 Athletics Directors Association announced the 2015-16 recipients of Academic Achievement Awards. Winona State University led the NSIC with 87 student-athletes named to the list. As a university, Winona State ranked 19th overall among the 156 honored institutions.
The Academic Achievement Awards is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level. A total of 156 institutions and a record number of student-athletes (8,072) are being recognized for the 2015-16 Academic Achievement Awards. All 14 NCAA Division II programs supported by Winona State had a student-athlete contribute to the award.
In order for a student-athlete to receive an Academic Achievement Award the student-athlete must:
· have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
· have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work
· have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year
