Health Services Funding

Buffalo County is seeking more state funding to prevent and control communicable diseases.

The county board of supervisors Monday night passed a resolution urging the Wisconsin State Legislature to budget more money for county health services.

The measure calls on state lawmakers to develop and enact bipartisan support of funding for "comprehensive, sustainable, effective and evidence based" control and prevention of communicable diseases.

The county board said the state currently does not have stable, dedicated sources of funding to local health departments to adequately deal with communicable disease control and prevention.

On another public health topic, the board approved expanding use of donations to a Drug Endangered Children Program to buy supplies and services.

The program fund was set up in 2015 to help children that were removed from drug endangered living environments.
