Winona city officials are looking forward to the end of this month when they learn who is interested in developing the 60 Main Street block downtown.
Requests for proposals have been sought by the Port Authority which owns the current parking lot behind the theaters. Mayor Mark Peterson told a Winona Radio audience there has been a lot of interest in putting together a project.
Plans for the upgrade of nearby Levee Park will get underway in 2017 after the City Council approved a 5-million dollar recreation bond issue this week. A new gateway entrance to the park off Main Street will be constructed.
Peterson says he hopes developers of the 60 Main Street site will include a parking ramp to help make up for the loss of parking in that vacant lot.....
