The Winona City Council holds its first regular meeting of the new year Tuesday and will be asked to approve new two-year contracts with five city labor unions covering 2017 and 2018.
Two of the unions covers police department officers and managers, one is for the city AFSCME union workers for council 65, and the other two cover the city's professional employees and teamsters union.
In addition, the council will select a new council president to act on behalf of the mayor when the mayor cannot attend a meeting. They will also be asked to approve a lease agreement with Westfield Golf Club allowing the club to advertise for a new manager for its restaurant.
Tuesday's meeting is at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall and is being held Tuesday because Monday is the celebration of the New Year's Day holiday since January First falls on Sunday.
