The Winona Area Public School Board will be asked to consider the immediate resignation of Superintendent Stephen West when the board meets tonight at City Hall.
According to the board's agenda, West has offered to terminate his employment with the district in a separation agreement.
West announced in November he would be resigning the position and said he would officially step down next June. The latest action comes after local news media reported St. Mary's University had issued a statement saying West did not possess a doctorate degree from the university.
West has been with the district for two and a-half years. The board is expected to consider the appointment of an interim superintendent until a search for West's successor is found. The board will also consider hiring a search firm to conduct the superintendent search.
Tonight's meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall.....
