Fillmore County Shooting

The Mower County Attorney has determined a Rochester police officer used appropriate force in shooting a 45-year-old Fillmore County man near Lanesboro, killing him in October.

Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension recently completed its investigation into the incident that led to the death of Kristofer Youngquist.

KTTC TV reports Mower County Attorney Kristen Nelsen reviewed the case file from the BCA's investigation and determined the shooting was justified, because Youngquist made numerous threats and pointed his rifle at the officer.

Youngquist allegedly pointed his rifle at officers, who warned him to drop his weapon or he would be shot.

The Mower County Attorney was asked to review the BCA's findings to relieve Fillmore County from a conflict of interest. She said Thompson's actions were justified because he fired the shot to protect himself and his team members.....
