Following a close overtime loss, the Winona State Warriors (8-10, 5-9 NSIC) took on the Augustana Vikings Saturday (14-6, 9-5 NSIC) looking to end their two game skid in the second matchup of their four game home stand. A big night from Tommy Gathje was not enough as the Warriors came up short at the buzzer for the second straight game, falling 73-71.

The Winona State (16-4, 11-3 NSIC) women's basketball team couldn't overcome the fast pace of the Augustana Vikings, as they suffered their first home loss of the season 80-63.
In a fast paced first quarter the Vikings were able to outscore the Warriors 23-17. The Vikings had a quick start, but the Warriors were able to find buckets of their own to exchange with the Vikings and keep the lead within reach. Both teams shot very well in the first quarter of action, the Vikings shot at 60 percent clip from the field and the Warriors 53 percent from the field.
