Dam Repairs

The Buffalo County Board has allocated $150,000 of CapX2020 utility funds to help landowners pay for repairs to flood damaged soil erosion dams and structures.
A cost-sharing program with a $1,000 deductible will offer eligible landowners half the cost of projects to repair damages. The landowner would pay the other half.

Flash-flooding caused by torrential rains in August caused widespread damage throughout central Buffalo County.

A plan approved by the county board Monday night 10-0 said as many as 2,000 conservation structures were damaged by flooding.

The cost-sharing resolution passed Monday said financial aid is aimed at repairing conservation structures that were government-designed and located on private land.

The land conservation & resource management department had a list of 30 or more landowners with conservation structure damages totaling $270,000.

There were damages to more than 50 dams and structures on those lands, repair costs ranging from $1,000 to $25,000, the majority of them $10,000 or less.....
