The Winona Port Authority has received four responses to the request for proposals for the development of 60 Main Street, the property behind the Winona theaters at the foot of Main Street.
The Port Authority issued the RFP for 60 Main Street last November. The site was identified as a potential redevelopment site in the City of Winona 2007 Comprehensive Plan and is considered as a desirable site for redevelopment. The Port Authority owns the public parking site and is pursuing a plan to create an active and vibrant development to complement adjacent park land and existing development.
City Staff will begin reviewing the proposals. The next step will be for the Port Authority to conduct interviews of the developers for the proposed project. Input and community engagement regarding the development are planned as the development process moves forward.
Plans for the upgrade of nearby Levee Park will get underway in 2017 after the City Council approved a 5-million dollar recreation bond issue earlier. A new gateway entrance to the park off Main Street will also be constructed near 60 Main Street.
Submitting proposals were: Streetfront Development LLC, Great Lakes Management Group, Hamilton Real Estate, Inc.and Sherman Associates & BKV Group.
