Plans for the development of a new 8-million dollar hotel in downtown Wabasha are off after the developers pulled out of the project.
The Wabasha County Herald reports Grand Eagles Hospitality decided to end the project and cited recent negative public response as one reason to pull out.
The 60-unit hotel had been earmarked for construction on a vacant lot next to the National Eagle Center. The Wabasha City Council had approved both a development agreement and a business subsidy agreement prior to January 1st.
Some opponents to the project had expressed concern that it would interfere with the future expansion of the National Eagle Center.....
