All incoming students at Winona State University next week will be provided with a free reusable water bottle thanks to WSU's Green Fee that funds environmentally friendly projects.
The students pay $5 each to fund the projects with a sustainabilty focus. The fee also partially funds WSU's new sustainability director position.
The reusable water bottle project is intended to help limit the number of disposble plastic water bottles use on campus. Each bottle will be accompanied by educational materials about sustainability, the university, and the green fee.
New outdoor recycling bins are intended to reduce the amount of waste produced on campus.
