A contractor has been hired to excavate debris from water runoff ditches located near the Fountain City Motel and nearby residential properties.
Sendelbach Construction, Inc., of Waumandee was hired for up to $2,500 to clean out rocks, sediment and other debris accumulated in the ditches.
In exchange for taking the debris for fill, trucking it to Waumandee will be done at no cost to Fountain City. An estimated 35 truckloads of debris would be removed to restore ditch depths for handling runoff from heavy rains.
The city council ratified a disaster declaration to qualify for cleanup caused by a heavy rainstorm in July. Drainage ditch work was among storm damage projects that the city listed for possible aid assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
