The Winona Health Foundation's 2017 Ben & Adith Miller Golf Classic set a new record in the amount of funds it raised this year.
The annual event raised a record $215,000 for the Ben & Adith Miller Patient Care Fund, a charitable fund for individuals and families who receive healthcare services at Winona Health.
The Golf Classic was held August 14th at Cedar Valley Golf Course. Golf pro Troy Merritt, who attended Winona State University for two years, was on hand to give a demonstration and meet participants throughout the day. Nearly 50 Winona Health Volunteers were on hand to help ensure participants enjoyed the event, which was supported by 61 regional and international companies.
The Ben & Adith Miller Patient Care Fund was established in 1986 by Benjamin A. Miller, a former Winona-area businessman and philanthropist, in honor of his wife, Adith, to help local individuals and families in need pay for medical care at Winona Health. The annual Golf Classic began in 1990 as a fundraiser to help ensure ongoing funding for this unique community resource. In fiscal year 2016, the fund helped 644 people with more than $750,000 in financial assistance.
