A former city administrator at Wabasha is on tap to become Buffalo County's first economic development coordinator.
A proposed plan going before the Buffalo County Board for approval next week calls for contracting part-time economic development coordinator services from David Schmidt of Wabasha.
Schmidt has more than 30 years of experience in assorted jobs tied to public management, planning and consulting.
He was city administrator in Wabasha for nearly 11 years and most recently was interim city manager in Moorhead as well as owning a 160-acre organic farm operation in Wabasha called Bluff Valley Farm.
The county board's economic development and finance committees recommend contracting Schmidt under a flexible hourly schedule that would average out to 20 hours per week.....
