The CEO of the Winona Family YMCA has resigned to accept a new job in the Twin Cities.

Scott Hannon the Chairman of the Y's board of directors says Derek Madsen will be leaving the local Y in the coming month.  

Hannon said in a letter to Y members that former Executive Director Andy Blomsness has agreed to a role in helping the Y with its campaign to  raise money for construction of a new YMCA and helping it stay of track.
Hannon said the local YMCA is in active discussions with the La Crosse YMCA to support the Winona Y under a management agreement.

CEO Bill Soper of the LaCrosse YMCA is an established and well respected leader with decades of successful YMCA management and multiple successfully completed capital campaigns. Th local Y board  confident that our team and theirs will be able to work closely to steward our YMCA forward.

The local Board of Directors is very confident in this transition plan, and feel it allows them to address the strategic objectives of the Y. Hannon said we will continue working hard to ensure our Y, which has admittedly struggled in the past several years, has a healthy future in this community....
