The Winona County Board of Commissioners continued preliminary discussions Tuesday on a 2018 budget.
The board is looking at a property tax levy increase as much as 6-percent, but will finalize the increase by the end of this month.
If property taxes are increased in 2018, it would be the third year in a row the levy was increased. That's after the board declined to increase the property tax levy the previous five years before that.
Once a preliminary budget is set, the board cannot increase it, but can reduce it prior to certifying a final levy to the state in December.
