Wisconsin Disaster Aid

Buffalo and Trempealeau Counties may get some federal disaster aid because Wisconsin Governor Scot Walker has submitted a request to help people and businesses impacted by flooding earlier.

The governor's office requested the assistance from the Small Business Administration for the additional counties of La Crosse, Vernon, Monroe and  Jackson.

Damage assessments done by the SBA showed 67 homes and businesses with major damage and 160 homes and businesses with minor damage.

WXOW TV reports if approved, low-interest loans up to $200,000 would be available to homeowners to repair or replace damaged or destroyed homes, while homeowners and renters could be eligible for up to $40,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property.

Low-interest loans up to $2 million would also be available to businesses for physical damage and economic loss as a result of the flooding according to the governor's office.
